Celebrating Harmony Day in Toowoomba

Harmony Day is a special opportunity to reflect on the strength of our community here in Toowoomba — a region rich in culture, kindness, and connection. Celebrated each year, Harmony Day is part of Harmony Week and promotes inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.

With people from more than 80 different cultural backgrounds calling Toowoomba home, we are a shining example of how diversity can enrich a community. Whether it’s through food, music, art, language or traditions, our cultural mix is something to be proud of.

This year’s theme, “Everyone Belongs,” reminds us that harmony doesn’t just happen — it’s something we build together. It means creating spaces where people feel safe to share their stories, where children grow up learning acceptance, and where respect is shown to all.

Wearing orange on Harmony Day is one small but powerful way to show our support. Orange represents meaningful conversations, mutual respect and the freedom to be yourself.

As a Council and as a community, we are committed to recognising and celebrating the contributions of all people — from First Nations Australians to those who have come from around the world to call our region home.

Let’s continue to listen with empathy, lead with kindness and live in harmony — not just today, but every day.

Happy Harmony Day, Toowoomba!
